Insomnia...yeah, I hear you. I've been taking two Advil PM's every night for years. If I have a couple of cocktails, do a late night walk with the dog, and get to sleep at 10, I'm usually up by 5 am...sometimes earlier.

Sucks.

The only good thing about it is clients in other countries freak when I answer their email in minutes after they've sent it.

And of course my dog loves getting let out at 4 am to pee, then goes back and steals my side of the bed while my wife is asleep.

Pfft, don't get me started. I used to work my ass off driving around LA fixing video editing systems, walk the dog when I got home at 9 pm, fall asleep by 10 pm...then wake up at 1am and stay awake till 3-4 am, fall asleep again until 7 am, then go walk the dog, arrange my day, drive all over, come back home, do it all again.

Jeezus. That sounds like work!

Nothings really changed but the timeframe. Now I stay awake till 11 pm, wake up at 4am, work for 2 hours, fall asleep till 8 am, my wife wakes me up, then I work till she comes home, and the cycle starts all over.

I never should have given up the offshore pharmaceutical habit. At least when I stayed awake for 36 hours, I slept 12-14 afterwards. But once I did my guitar/amp collection mushroomed, so I guess it's a question of plenty of amps/guitars/insomnia or $100 Kleenex in the morning.
