Dashboard food
I found out today that poptarts are awesome if you bake them naturally. The temperature on the dashboard around 3pm could cook pizza.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

Re: Dashboard food
Well, beware that dashboard food can lead to the dreaded foodboard dash .... IYKWIMAITYD (if you know what I mean and I think you do).
Re: Dashboard food
Hehehe, we used to have this old man hod carrier (the guy that mixes stucco mud and carries it to you).
In the Winter time he would put soup cans on the engine of the mixer, by lunch time he would have hot soup to eat!

Re: Dashboard food
There was a mini trend mid 90's to do "engine cooking". I think there was even a cookbook published. Lots of heavy duty aluminum foil. Wrap up a sub, park it on your engine & by lunchtime you have a hot chow down to beat the band.Structo wrote:In the Winter time he would put soup cans on the engine of the mixer, by lunch time he would have hot soup to eat!
Also recommendations for laundry on the road: fill a 5 gal bucket with water, detergent & clothes & clamp the lid on. Couple of hours bouncing down the road, there's your wash cycle. Fill again with clean water & a couple more hours driving for your rinse. Slow but effective.

Re: Dashboard food
I had a dream once where I used the road as a belt sander hanging out the back of a pickup. I'm sure it would work but I'm not gonna try it.
Re: Dashboard food
Drillers are notorious for heating cans of spaghetti-O's and ravioli on the drill engine. I hate to admit it, but there have been times when I was jealous of their hot lunch.
Don't you boys know any NICE songs?
Re: Dashboard food
Can't say I've never ate truck engine food. Its best if you runover it first
Re: Dashboard food
Used to pop burritoes in the air cleaner in the morning - well cooked by lunchtime.
or burritoes in foil in the dash - then close the windows and park in the sun.
or that guy who used to do eggs in the air cleaner - never got that recipe.
How about that guy that built a (high quality) solar egg cooker - and then it got so hot the cooker caught on fire????? could do a pot roast in about 10 minutes....

Re: Dashboard food
If it has to be really hot right now, almost anything will burn with enough oxidizer:

Re: Dashboard food
They're predicting 104° here this weekend. Maybe a good time to try the old egg on the sidewalk thing.

Oh yeah! Run it over, put it between 2 slices of bread, run it over again then toast to perfection on your exhaust manifold. Don't forget the hot sauce.Zippy wrote:Panini!cbass wrote:Can't say I've never ate truck engine food. Its best if you runover it first

Man, this is making me hungry.
I'm thinking the kids might like some Manifold Quesadillas tonight.
