Fremont Solstice Parade is tomorrow.

Fremont is a wonderful little city-within-a-city in Seattle. Always very eclectic and artsy. It is the self described "Center of the Universe." When you're leaving Fremont, there's a sign that says "You are now leaving Fremont, thank you."

They have a statue of Lenin that someone rescued from a field in russia:

Tomorrow is the Solstice Parade, and it is always a blast. Here's some photos of past parades (warning, naked bicyclists):

It's a family tradition to go, and even as teenagers, my kids look forward to it.

The first one we went to, I wanted to make sure my four year old son was aware of what he might see. I didn't want him blurting out "Dad look at those naked people!"

Instead, before the parade he blurts out "So where are the naked people?"

They hand out chalk for the kids to write on the road before the parade, and years later my son wrote "Max farts on your parade." A sixty or seventy year old woman came over to congratulate him on his attitude.

Fun stuff. Let your freak flag fly.

I'm just up the road - Marysville - been here all my life and still have never been to the parade. Think about going every year but something always comes up. My Dad's in town this year.....
