Bandmaster

Post by M Fowler »

Got a silver face bandmaster in for repair fuzzy sound low volume.

Replaced screen resistors and replaced OT with stock style but I think we are going to change to Bassman OT 4 ohm version to increase volume/headroom.

Nice clean looking amp though.

Yes it really is clean inside but does get used per owner.

Gotta be an early silverface-that's still a pretty neat wiring job.

Wow that is clean & tidy.
All the silver faces I've seen have been a mess inside.
That's a keeper.

That is the other amp I like to be able to sound like-ish. Look at how easy to work on. I wish someone locally would break a good amp! You are too lucky.

Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

The word is out some guys broke more nice amps Miles.

Lordy I'm selling way too many tubes. If only the local guitar stores had tubes I wouldn't have to sell my stock.

I think the stamp in the chassis saying 11th week of 1968. First production year of the silverface bandmasters. Inside all blackface items, no spaghetti and the famous AA768 circuit. Mint condition. A keeper!
Yes, recommend OT from Super Reverb or Bassman for more stability at higher volumes. There are good replacements for 4 Ohms.

The Super rev is a 2 ohm OT. I think he ment the bassman like a blackface 4ohm type, not the 4x10 type used in 5f6a concert or SR.
Or the oddball bassman 10 is 8 ohm.

I'm installing a Heyboer 4 ohm replacement Bassman OT tomorrow plus I changed out the screen resistors and will change out the grids.
