Bogner 100B Effects Loop Mod?

Post by 67Mopar »

Does anyone know why this Bogner 100B would have a pot at the effects loop? The loop level is controlled from the front of the amp, so I don't understand why there would be a control at the rear of the amp. There have a series loop.

The one we have is a 101 I think. It has everything on the back, one is send and the other is a makeup gain that goes way overboard and has it's own switcher on the pedal board I think it is even labled "boost". It's a post effects gain control. (that is crazy)

Thanks. I've looked at a bunch of 100B pics, but none of them have this pot on the back. The level is controlled by 2 x push-button switches.

But the 100B models use a series effects loop... How can it be a wet/dry mix? The owner is saying it is a stock amp, but that cannot be true.

Some of the last 100b had have the 101b loop. Some 100b are modified 101b if the customer/store wanted the 100b sound. Do you have the amp? or more pics? if I can see a little more of it. I think I could tell you more about this amp.

Strange... Why would anyone want their 100B to sound like a 101B? I had a later model than #80, and it didn't have a parallel loop.

I don't have the amp, but here are some pics of the same type of mod. Looks like a parallel loop mod to me.

Around the time the 101b first came out and before...they would do more custom mods for customers and stores.....so you will find different mods in allot of these. I think the Classic XTC was made to stop this....so you now just had the two to choose from with the options (classA sw...ect..)......but no more custom mods....it just slowed down the production too much. I like the 101b best ..the 100b sounds strange to me  but its more like the fish ...they both have this strange edge to them....it can be cool but I just couldn't get use to it.

I spoke with Charlie today. He basically said the same thing, and advised me on looking for something more current. He said they don't have the boards for the 100B, so major repairs (should any be needed) are not an option. The guy who owns the 100B in question was telling me that the amp was stock... I'm no expert on Bogner amps, but I do know that all 100B models came stock with a serial loop. I was uncertain as to exactly what this mod was? I found a couple that had the same pot, and they were both parallel loop mods. My modded RK100 will do 100B tones all day long, so it's not that big of a deal. I would like to find one that hasn't been messed with though.

Its not a big deal and it was done (I think)at Bogner so it is kind of stock. The tone should be the same if you keep the mix to dry. You don't need to worry about the circuit boards (far better then most)...You could remove the mod its not hard and repairs are just like any other amp....I don't know why he would tell you that.

Sounded like they (Bogner) would prefer not to work on older gear maybe? Jorg couldn't remember if there was a knob on the back or not? It was 20 years ago, so...

I can't imagine a board ever going bad either. I know there was a heating issue at the power contacts in the 100B that caused some boards to burn, but that's an easy fix. I really wanted to buy the amp, but $3500.00 for a modded 100B is too high-priced for my wallet. 8)
