Working on my first build, a Rocket with 2 EL84 for output.
Started with a blank chassis from DDawg and drilled and punched my thru it.
Built a little stand to hold the thing from 80-20 aluminum pieces.

Mechanically this one was not a well planned build. Of course I mounted stuff as it came in never looking at the overall placement of parts but rather the excitement of getting this project going.

Once I went to place the board I saw the problem. Split and offset the PS was my best option.
Got the tone board all wired up and mounted in the chassis. PS too.

Looks good waiting to hear how you like it when it's fired up.
You can make that boost foot switchable if you want.

Looks great and Wow we're building concurrent very similar amps. Got my chassis from DD too. I'm interested to hear how you like it.

Love that stand! Think I'll make myself something just like it! I just never thought of using those for a stand.

Dave, gonna wait for that faceplate till I do a better job with the layout. Got a couple of chassis, this is a compulsion once you start isn't it, from Allyn that are correctly laid out so that could work. A Liverpool and Express.
Mark, I'm kinda riffin off your build with SS rect and such. But I tried to follow both the schematic for the rocket and your build. Once I get the power supply to the tubes hooked up I'll get the variac out and see how it goes.
DocJames, that 80-20 is great stuff with all kinds of connectors and so many ways to go together. This one just worked for me. I use it at work all the time to build stuff.

Right on Joe. I will dink around with those for the time being just to create some grist for the creative mill. I have to scratch my artistic itch from time to time too!
I did plastic white on black from BNP for my Express. I have subsequently switched over to silver on black because the corners of the plastic type aren't as robust as I would like them.

Wow that looks great!! I took a thin piece of acrylic, 1/16, and sparayed the back white. Then lined it up with my holes and drilled from there. Not great but a semi finished look. At least it's not metal.
When done I'd like to go for a look like the clark JTM45.

I really like the look of that blonde Clark set-up.
I tried tolex.....once. Realized that I didn't have the touch...nor the patience...to do it justice. The uber tough, paint-on truck bed lining approach is right up my alley!

Indeed..and..thankfully for that regarding cabinet work!
Our own Amplified Nation being one of those options in your neck of the woods. He built me a killer mini Dumble'sque combo cab for a practice amp that I did for my brother in law. Great job!
