I've got a failed amp building attempt on my hands... Basically, it was supposed to be a Rt.66-ish thing with el34's. Unfortunately, as I was building a combo in a Tweed Bandmaster type chassis, I couldn't get the microphonics problems from the ef86 sorted out. Switching to a 5789 reduced the noise, but not enough. Also, the 5789 doesn't sound as good as a ef86.
So... I'm planning to rebuild this thing as something else, and I'm wondering if this chassis would be too small to build some sort of dumble clone in, most likely a D'lite...
If it sounds like it won't work, then I'll probably go ahead and use a different chassis, and save this one for something down the line.
Thanks!

Check out my Princeton Chassis build layout in the layout section. It's tiny but I managed to get everything to fit, plus it sounds great.

Did you try polyurethane around the tube sockets and hot glue on the wiring?MarkBuckingham wrote: I couldn't get the microphonics problems from the ef86 sorted out.

That's pretty cool... I just happen to have a princeton here, so I think I'll compare the space available between that and the tweed amp.Bob-I wrote:Check out my Princeton Chassis build layout in the layout section. It's tiny but I managed to get everything to fit, plus it sounds great.

No... I did try some o-rings, but there wasn't any change.heisthl wrote:Did you try polyurethane around the tube sockets and hot glue on the wiring?MarkBuckingham wrote: I couldn't get the microphonics problems from the ef86 sorted out.
The thing is... The amp sounded pretty good with the ef-86, but it wasn't exactly what I was going for even despite the noise problem.
The hot-glue on the wires thing is a pretty good idea though.
