I completely missed this release. I was listening to kexp.org and the DJ sort of went on a Lennon kick. Then he played Bill Frisell's interpretation of Lennon's 'Mother.'

Holy moly, I might put this in the same category of Beck's interpretation of 'Cause We've Ended As Lovers.'

Not comparing the two, just saying both have an amazing amount of thoughtful, tasteful phrasing, combined with fantastic guitar playing.

I couldn't find the music on his page that you're referring to but I freely admit that I love the understated elegance of Bill Frisell's music in general.

Frisell is great, but so is Greg Leisz who is all over that record....

Frissell played with Ginger Baker and Charlie Haden back in the early 90's and recorded a disc "Going back home". He had a real drippy and slipper tone and feeling. I lent the CD to a co worker who knows Ginger to get it autographed - well you know the story never saw the disc again...
