Any Resistor Detectives?

Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
Back in those days, when average were 20% and 10% were selevtion, 2% would be good precsion resistors. Either selected and remarked items, or special production. Probably mil-spec, and not common at all.....
Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
I think these are pretty rare birds for back then, and obviously not as prevalent in geetar amps. Mine came out of an early sixties organ. Would be cool to build an amp with Mustards and these for everything.
I might just do that..

What organ? I want some of these. They have to be surplus from a make-up contract or something similar. Very strange.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.
Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
The best kind of organ... The free kind. Just goes to show that a friend breaking your huge ass bong isn't always a bad thing...
It's an Orgasonic by Baldwin. This thing keeps on giving. Just when I thought she was all done, I pull some more... And when she's all dried up, it's off to thrift shop to claim the last of what she's got to give. I've even used the speakers! I'll post a pic later and you all can see what I've been dealing with.

Hi guys.....
I'm most certainly not trying to flame a war of those we have seen seeral times, but do you really think this chase for mojo is worth it?
Looking closely at the pictures, this is most probably a special production, also concidering that the values are all over the place and in-between all standard selection tables used, both european and US. Looking at the shape and size of some of these, they do look like classical 1/2W carbon comp, either selected and remarked values, or truly special series, and coated to receive custom print marking, not like the classical colour banding used.
Just my 2 c's......

Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
You may be right, but the values are REAL tight. And to my knowledge, that's not indicative of CC at all. They have the Rosenthal logo and I think were sourced from Europe by Baldwin, probably because they were cheaper. Again, this is mere speculation, but I agree that they are likely some kind of special series that didn't last that long, but who knows?Aurora wrote:Hi guys.....

Soooo - the only way to know, is ---- a sacrifice?
Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
Yeah, I think so...
I guess I'll do one of the 'off spec' ones. Pics to come when the deed is done. I'll burn the remains...

Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
I've gone through 3 Baldwin Orgasonics.
Never saw those in mine.
Yes, those models are among my favorite.
I even harvest the T-Style terminal strips and use them.

I've gotten to drilling out the rivets and stealing the sockets. I got three of the old black octal style with the four ground lugs attached. Think I'll use a couple of them for my Express build. Too bad those Sangamo caps are so leaky...
