First timer...but I want an amp I can play, not tweak

Post by greiswig »

Hi, all,

I recently bit the bullet and bought a D'Lite kit which I should get sometime in the near future. Looking forward to building it, and more importantly to playing it.

From what I can tell, this circuit is a "non-HRM" circuit that often serves as a launching pad for folks to either tweak or to learn from as they build their later HRM amps.

Also, from the sound of clips, I think the HRM mod is something that I am going to prefer. I gather that most people here end up including the HRM/PAB mod on their amps with good reason? I'd prefer not to build it, tweak it, modify it, then play...I'm a working musician who would rather maximize play time relative to tweak time.

How difficult is it to add the HRM to a D'Lite kit? Is there a circuit diagram that outlines the modifications needed to do this?

Again, I really appreciate the willingness of everyone here to share their hard-won knowledge. Helps guys like me take on projects!

Really you'd just wire the channel switch differently and add a little board with 3 caps, 1 resistor, and 3 trimmers.

Thanks, Funk! That is encouraging. Is there a circuit diagram somewhere that compares the two different circuits?

Look at the 2 ODS-101 schematics, and the "combined" one. (in the Dumble Files section)

Note the pot differences, especially in the OD section. These ARE important. Also note that the "master" is different too. Also important.
Wife: How many amps do you need?
