Any Resistor Detectives?
Need some help identifying these old resistors. Never seen them before and can't find anything on the net about them. Maybe someone here can lend some insight into what the hell they are?

Wasabi mustards!
No clue. Man those would make for a very confusing Marshall!

I was thinking the same thing! Certainly would throw someone's investigation of an old Plexi.... "What are all these tiny Mustards doing in here?!?!"
Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
Those are mustard caps from what I can tell convert k markings to uf such as
8k2= .0082uf

Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
I don't know about that. There is an ohm symbol on the device and they are marked 1/2W. Sounds like a resistor to me...I just don't know the manufacturer.
Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
Yeah, these are resistors. Very 'mustardy' resistors... And for early sixties they really are close to spec. That 2% is accurate. I only measured one that was off by more than that.

They have to be Japanese, right? Nothing I can find anywhere..

pretty sure that the logo is Rosenthal.
Never seen that kind from them before.

I have a bunch of those, bought them from an old electronics store in the Netherlands. Great resistors, no issues. I never bothered to figure out what they are.

Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
The logo looks like one on some old Resista I have. If so, these are likely out of the '50s I would guess, maybe early '60s. 43K, 38K, 40R etc. is old. The ones I have all have color codes. If they are Resista they were made in Germany I believe.
On reflection, with 2% ratings they are likely metal film which would make them not quite so old I think.

Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
Just a hunch, but it's possible these were military grade parts from the 60's. Carbon Comp, hand-selected for 2% tolerance, then conformal coated to seal-in all the goodness.

I'm pretty sure that are as well, I have 2-3 that I received in a grab bag of resistors from Europe years back, maybe I'll dig them out and cut one in two.

Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
Thanks, all. I'm pretty sure these are Rosenthals as well. Still can't find ANYTHING about them from doing many searches. I guess these weren't very widespread back in the day, at least not here in the states. I bet they're in a lot of Euro amps from back in the day. Interesting too, about them possibly being MFs. I assumed they're CFs, but still don't know. Hope they're CFs, or else I probably won't use them.
Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
They sound like cf to me.
Re: Any Resistor Detectives?
I have some 1/2% resistors that look similar.
Mine are in Heathkit decade boxes.
