...Really disappointed me. Not because of who was there. It was Joe Walsh.
They had him plugged into a Fender FM212 combo... WTF!!!!
I looked over and over again to see if my eyes were deceiving me. Nope! They even showed him adjusting the knobs of that 'thing'. The no name backup guitarist had a Suhr amp and I don't know what Daryl was using, but he sounded good. Joe Walsh is Joe Walsh and plays like Joe Walsh, but there are some things no one can get around, like a Chinese made Fender amp played loud.
Still cool seeing Joe play and talk, but man, wasn't expecting that.
I haven't seen that particular show yet. I bet Joe sounded good even through that amp. I've seen the 'other' guitarist with Line 6 amps many times. I think the Suhr is new.
Yeah, Joe sounded like Joe, even through that. Of course, there was that D'Angelico he played one Life's Been Good. What a guitar!
Funny that these old school guys don't have the stock house amps like Matchless, Dr. Z, Victoria, etc. The kind of stuff that seems to ALWAYS be available in a studio. Guess they're on a budget!

Well...Hall and Oates were never known for guitar tones. In fact, just the opposite IMO. Daryl is a very good singer. They wrote some good songs, but I could not stand either of them back in the day. I thought of them as disco, bubble gum drivel. I grew up in the Philly area and we were inundated with them. Funny pairing of Joe and Daryl. I have come to respect Daryl more in these last few years, but rock ain't his forte.

Though I guess the latter part of his career probably pays the bills.
Original recording of Exposure had DH on every track. When his record company found out they put the kibosh on that, so ended up with just 2 tracks (?) however this led to other great vocalists getting some "exposure" instead including The Roches - them gals can sing up a storm - genetic harmony!
Latter part of DH career has made him a millionaire many times over.
Somewhere - there are the master tapes of Exposure - who knows maybe someday we'll get to hear those tracks with DH voice as originally conceived and recorded. At this late date I think the old record co. might not put up such an objection. Then its release would be up to Robert Fripp. My opinion: it's "Easy Money" to borrow a phrase. So why not just do it.
I watched about half of the Joe Walsh LADH episode yesterday and I must say, in spite of the 'red haired step-child' amp, Joe not only sounded like Joe, but his tone enabled him to cut right through a very dense mix which includes two additional guitars. I had no trouble discerning which parts Joe was playing. I'll probably go back and watch the rest of it as it looks like a very fun episode.

Funny t'ing, innit, the great guitarists sound like themselves no matter what the gear. It's likely "Peachy" Pete Moshay is mixing those TV shows, and he's a top notch talent behind the console. Check the fine print on the credits roll.

Ya know Joe plays what he wants to play. With the Eagles he uses a Night Train in the back.

I'm Suhr you're right. That's usually the case. Backing guys tend not to get the recognition they deserve and many times are even better than the talent. He did sound very good through your amp.
