Any info/knowledge about this unique german tube guitar amp?

Post by devilsindetails »

Must be my month for strange and unusual amps finding their way to my door.

This unusual one...I'm guessing circa 1950 appears to be German, given the language and markings,...is labelled "Monika" which I take to be the style type and a model number of KV310.

It also has a brass stamp:K.A.Schmitt which I am assuming is the manufacturer...

Haven't opened 'er up yet, but it has 2X10" speakers...almost looks like old Philips or Telefunken drivers.

I am including pics as my google search and general enquiries are not bringing up much info at all.

Thanks for looking and any leads on info about this old-timer...Leon

That thing is too damn cool!!

I had an old Alnico speaker like those and I blew it out at some point. It was a great sounding speaker and I really wish I didn't because nobody will recone it for me.

I'll take the chassis out tomorrow and post more pics...the tube complement may provide some clues...I'm guessing EF86 in the first gain stage...EL34 output?...hopefully there will be a schematic glued somewhere in there like many of the german tube chassis of the period...

That's a pretty cool looking amp.

Does it work?

Are those cap cans original?

Talk about antiquity. I've seen many similar parts in my old Motorola radio from what I think may be the 1940s. Have you tried plugging that thing in?

I think they're caps. On one pic, one of them is a little clearer and I can see a .05uf. Coolest looking caps I've seen! They have a shine like glass!
