Well hello there.
I am a very amatuer guy, cannot read schematics, and am trying to restore/recap a few old tube amps I have had laying around here , like forever.
On one amp, an old Alamo Fury, theres a capacitor value I havent seen before.
Its says 100uf "12/15V'"s. I havent seen a hyphen between the voltage values like that before. Its a small old metal cap.
I am assuming I can replace this with a 100uf 50 volt cap, cause thats the closest cheapest replacement I have found.
I'll be asking a few amp restoration questions over the next few weeks, as I try to get a few of my old amps recapped;
Traynor bassmate, Taynor YBA-1a bassmaster, Alamo Fury ,Fender 1965 blackface Bassman, a Sunn 200s, Ampeg M-12 mercury, Valco Wards, and a few others.
What does this Cap value mean? 100uf 12/15v's?

12 volts, 15 volt "surge" IOW expect to work OK @ 12V but don't exceed 15V for brief periods. Anyway you're wise to replace an ancient electrolytic cap and with 50V rating should last a couple decades, practically.Jerry2013 wrote: On one amp, an old Alamo Fury, theres a capacitor value I havent seen before.

Thanks very much. Guess I'll leave this in case someone is looking for the answer to this also, since I didn't find anything googleing about it, it might hit on a search for someone down the road.Leo_Gnardo wrote:12 volts, 15 volt "surge" IOW expect to work OK @ 12V but don't exceed 15V for brief periods.
