Dressen-Barnes (this transformer)

Post by Reeltarded »

My mail man was pissed off today. A box came in the mail that was over every weight limit. If it fits you'll shit. That kind of heavy. Some extreme smartass around here thinks it's a good idea to turn me loose with dangerous stuff...

:O

It's not!!!

It says Dressen-Barnes 4-200X and it seems to be the only thing Google doesn't know about. Anyone? It clams to be a regulated supply and comes on it's own chassis with around 300000000000000000uF of 1000000000v caps. The tubes were 2x 5u4GB, 4x 5881, a 12ax7 and 2 other tubes guitar never heard of.

It has attitude. You can see the attitude. Grrrrrrwar.

Yeah, that's the original tranny that came in the first Dumble. Howard got it at Dress Barn for a bargain with some jeans.

I had no idea Dress Barn carried such cool, albeit completely unidentifiable Frankensteinesque, electronic goodies. As soon as the wife gets home from work, I'm going to offer to take her shopping at Dress Barn!

I'm going to google right now to search for the nearest location.

Hook that massive PSU up to your Gibson brown one knobber, install a couple of 211A & let 'er rip, 'tater chip. That ought to impress the studio clients. Tell 'em to bring fresh underwear, might need it. Also keep a long lucite rod handy to turn the volume knob. Shades of Dr. Frankenstein. NO! FRRANKENSTIEN! Dresser-Barnes & Gibson, they were made for each other.

Okay Miles, you asked for it...

How much current capacity do you think it takes to handle around eighty 12AX7s and a couple of 6L6s?

Whose is bigger?

I took that pic from a blimp I bought on ebay.

i was looking around on this transformer and I found an ancient text that has a picture of the Sun and some gibberish I googled and turns out it says 500 cubitamps. I can't find that on my meter...

It looks like it might have previously put out a bunch of power. I found evidence of.. um... arking.

This lemon is tremendous.
