Little brown Gibson amp with like a knob

Post by Reeltarded »

I have this little brown Gibson amp with like a knob on it. It has a single el84 that red plates. I am going to cram something in it to scare people.

No way! I am just gonna make what is there black plate instead of red.. then just make it sound like something. This was the most ehhh sounding amp ever made before a friend did.. something.. the speaker is half removed and umm what do people do to stuff?

This is one of those amps I don't like because it has an 84 and it only has one so that makes it awful ewww. It's like orange flavor toothpaste. Blechhh. Crest and Tropicana.

It's little and they put them in these amps with like a knob and well.. the whole delivery is kind of smallish.

If it is gonna be ugly it's gotta sound weird. I think I want to make it sound like it has no filtering. Fub fub fub

Those new-ish Marshalls with one EL84 have a lot of oomph.

Your one-knobber must have been Gibson's answer to the Champ.

Resolve the red-plate problem first, it may be a cathode-bypass cap shorted on the EL84. Put in a new or at least not-fried EL84 & what's in the front end of your amp? Speaker may be duff too. Do this amp have a model #?

Gibson made a new GA-5 (within the last 10 years). Maybe it is this model?

Way overpriced, IMHO, for what it is.

If you search eBait for "Gibson GA-5" you will see they must have used that model number for 6 different amps!

I agree. Some local guy posted one of these on Craigslist with an asking price of $800. I assume it was a joke, but who knows? I really love these little single knob combos and would buy the Gibson if the asking was much, much lower. My Champion 600 is a favorite of mine.

It is like that but browner and way uglier. This one is really ugly.

If it did have a model number that I cared to look for at the moment it would probably be between 1 and 1,000,000.

If I can get it to black plate I am going to make it into one of those Vox lies. rofl
