I just got my old Galaxie back on a trade and forgot how great this amp sounds. It's pretty much a dead on 5F4 with a bit more filtering on the power supply. This thing smokes my Victoria LP Twin even with a Gold in it. The clean channel/Super sounds KILLER but just wish it had a bit more volume before starting to give up the goods.
Triad redid the OP transformer just for this amp and it's not much bigger than a Tweed Dlx. I'm wondering how much of a difference a bigger OP trans would make?
Thinking about building one on an Express chassis using the switch for single/paralleled triode on V1 like the Twin.
let me know if you have any thoughts.

I built a 5F4 kit from Mission and went to an oversize OT and KT66s. IF your OT is of 5E3 size, it will saturate much sooner and limit output.
You might also try a more efficient speaker set to boost the volume before breakup. I went with a mixed pair of ceramic/alnico.

Thinking of building this with Hammond 1750M OP and 350-0-350 PT on an Express chassis.

Got the OP trans and going to start the board layout.
Wondering if the single/parallel first gain stage looks ok? I was going for a modified LP Twin input.
thanks
