I can't afford one either. The only thing I've ever paid that much for is an automatic transmission.

Wasn't Kelley's amps the ones that ran 6V6GTA's at like 480 volts.
Why does no one ever feel sorry for the poor little EL84's that are abused in so many other amps? They're even littler, and more helpless. Cathode bias - oh the agony! :-)
I do feel bad for those helpless EL84s... At least they're new ones.

Doesn't Matchless run them up to 400 or something? I've had good results with keeping them low. I've always fancied running tubes closer to their designated capacity, but apparently some have found a good formula for doing just the opposite... We'll just call Jim the mad doctor.

Awesome amp, Jim. :D

Stay away from Walmart; otherwise, your photo is going to be on People of Walmart

Have a good friend that has an original that will only be pried from his cold dead fingers. Original owner - no problems, always sounded good through it.

Ummmmm Actually the designer behind the New Magnatone's is Obeid Kahn. A memeber here and a really talented amp designer. I doubt he had need to look inside someone else's amp for inspiration.

Magnatone is sourcing the correct varistors.

Contact info? price? are they those quaint old "dog bone" resistor looking things, or what do they look like now? Owners of vintage Magnatones want their amps to work right with just the proper weeble-wobble like they used to have. The right varistor will put them in seventh heaven. Thanks in advance HeeBGB!

Well from the video's I've heard Obeid did a fantastic job designing the new Magnatone, makes me want to save up for at least two of the models :)

No disrespect intended in my statement above Obeid.

I didn't know! Obeid is an amazing designer and a great guitar player too. Look for his Reason amp demos if unsure. I'm sure the new Magnatones will be amazing.

I don't really have answers to most of your questions. Contact Obeid @ Reason Amplification or Magnatone. I do know that they had companies (maybe the original mfgr's) make the varistors for them so that they could be accurate tonally.
