If you could drink a beer with any living musician who would it be?

After the Holdsworth thread talking about him having a beer between sets, and being from Wisconsin where we drink a lot of beer, who would your choice musician be?

Jimmy Page would have to be my choice. I hate to be that cliché, but I don't want to name someone else to try to be different, rather, just be truthful. His tone on The Song Remains The Same live at Madison Square is the whole reason I'm playing a Les Paul and fell in love with the guitar all over again.

After the Holdsworth thread talking about him having a beer between sets, and being from Wisconsin where we drink a lot of beer, who would your choice musician be?

Well, I'll expand it to various forms of substances, and living or dead musicians:

- Drink Beer: Richard Thompson.

- Drink Hard Liquor: Keith Moon (we'd both end up in jail, but he would bail me out).

- Drop Acid: David Gilmour.

- Smoke Pot: Jimi Hendrix (I would pick drop acid, but I figure if he only smoked pot with me, he might give some great guitar lessons).

- Ecstasy and Viagra: A young Madonna.

- Have tea: David Bowie or Andy Partridge.

- Dinner party (and some of these guys are not musicians): Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, Albert Einstein, Timothy Leary, Mitch Hedberg, David Bowie, Carlos Casteneda, Hunter S. Thompson, and the cast of TAG. We'd play dinner musical chairs. But we'd have to limit the time Miles and Hunter sat together.

Man you guys are great, what a diverse set of answers.

Top of my list would be Guthrie Govan. Another guy would be Warren Haynes. Guys that are approachable and you can "swap lies with", as my uncle used to say.

Anyone who'd be good company to drink beer with. So, it's got to be someone who still drinks. Someone who can tell a good story. Lot's of guys have had to quit -- some have even had liver transplants!
