Nice! He plays that tone to bits.

Chris is a beast and I think a guy that carries the SRV flame well. To be honest, when I first learned about him I blew him off as a clone but he's really come into his own with the stuff he's been putting out for the past five or so years.

Don't you boys know any NICE songs?

He's a good player. I have his Texas Sugar album.
But I'm more a fan of Sonny Landreth's style of playing.

I barely recall seeing him once when he opened for someone else that I can't remember...This is bringing back memories that I hoped were lost. I hope Cliff is right cause that was a night I could forget. I actually paid for that blatant display of whatever that was - SRD? He could of at least dressed up ala Randy Hansen and given an honest nod.

Yeah I saw him back in the 90's when he was very young. He played at Milwaukee's Summer Fest and warmed up for Buddy Guy - I was in the front row. He was just a kid, came out in ripped up blue jeans, ripped up tee shirt with a bandanna tied around his leg. He just absolutely tore the place up. Don't remember the drummer's name, looked like Santa Claus. Chris said that he taught him how to hang on the the back beat. Cool thing, when he was done, he sat stage left cross-legged indian style watching Buddy Guy, just taking everything in. I saw him half a dozen times after that, I believe one time warming up for Robben Ford at another Blues fest.
Late 90's early 2000, he traded in his, IIRC, vibrolux with a 15" speaker for an early plexi ala Eric Johnson and his stage volumes became ear splitting, but oh man, he would wind up that plexi + tape delay and do one hell of a version of "People get ready" ala Jeff beck with EJ tone.
Unfortunately, IMHO, I don't think he could shake the "Another SRV" clone image that I feel he was so falsely labeled as at the time. As far as I am concerned the only similarities were Texas, a Strat and being a fantastic guitar slinger.
A very gifted musician and humble human he is.
