Wow, serious bummer. "I'm Goin Home"...i guess he really meant it this time. Always thought "I'd Love To Change the World" was a great song. I loved his aggressive no-holds barred style.

Wow...

Ten Years After was a serious influence when I was young.

More recently, I've been enjoying everything that he's brought to the Eric Clapton concerts as well as his contributions to "Concert for George".

He will be missed.

Thank you for the decades of masterful work, Alvin.

wow- My all time favorite musician - that guy was a true god - apparently my (old as sh*t) neighbor met him a few times a while back back in his studio days.

All I can say is I really cherish the albums he made - and I have many....Those live ones really rock.

"I'm Going Home" blew my mind the first time I saw it (and probably the second or third).

And I agree with vibratoking, "I'd Love To Change the World" is just a classic.

I'll be listening to a lot of TYA the next couple of days.

RIP Alvin.

"...due to complications from a routine pancreatic cancer surgery."

What? I didn't think any of that was routine. My brother died last year from complications resulting from pancreatic cancer surgery. There wasn't a damn thing that was routine about it. As far as I know, pancreatic cancer is a death sentence.

Just listening to The Bluest Blues again. Great great song.

Yes, pancreatic cancer is usually terminal.

We have lost a lot of great people to that evil cancer.

Patrick Swayze, Steve Jobs, Michael Landon, Benjamin Orr, Luciano Pavarotti, to name a few.

Cricklewood Green
Love Like a Man
Good Morning Little Schoolgirl
I Woke Up This Morning

Lots of good music out of this guy.
Check out TYA backing up Chuck Berry on the live LP.

He was almost a caricature of the English electric Bluesman, over the top at times.
