You guys.. All you need is a beer sponsorship. Did I mention free beer? (and everything else)

I love roadie stories.

Back in my day, we use to carry a 4x12 in each hand, uphill both ways, in the snow!

Putting that empty 412 in a box and carrying it to the car was a b*tch....call me what you will!

If putting this much suede on a guitar cabinet is wrong, I don't want to be right!

More to come. I'm doing more next week 2-3 of them. The cab sounded fantastic

I had my 4x12 in my Prius last night along with my Dumble clone head, Strat and Les Paul, 6 space rack, and a big effects cabling bag and I didn't hear any bitching. :P Yes I said Prius. A contribution to help get the gas monkey off our collective back.

I wanna see and hear that cab Taylor. Can you send it to me? I'll pay the shipping. I'll send it back when I'm done.

Ha that cab is halfway to texas! There will be more of them, including two more black ones and almost officially a 'watermelon' suede one coming up in the next couple weeks....just waiting on the deposit.

Yo Taylor,

Check out the photos:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Dumble-PI- ... 2ec686cb52

You've got alot more experience but I'd say the baffle is some king of pine and the walls Birch ply. The Luan stuff we've been talking about is medium to heavy grains and very liner.

What do you see?

I can't see any plys in the cleats, and it appears the screws made impressions in the wood, so they may be a soft hardwood. I still haven't seen luan in person but from the pictures I've been looking at online, there seems to be a lit of variation in grain patterns. I can't imagine a pine baffle...especially carrying two EVs...

Look at the cargo box ply, this is luan and looks similar. I'm gonna order a sheet or two of this and see whats happens. In the Dumble book, HAD discusses Luan and how it can be brittle and difficult to work with, but he raves about it. He specifically says he does not like birch for cabs at all. It was great reading that with the amount of birch I have in stock

From what I understand about luan It can be several different species of wood. Its mostly used for floor underlay nowdays. I haven't seen 3/4 luan ply in a long time.

That first pick Looks like the luan I can get.But I think its all 1/4".I haven't found it to be anymore difficult to work with than anyother hardwood Ply.

The bottom pic doesn't look anything like the Luan I've seen.Doesn't mean It isn't though

I confirmed I can get it in 3/4"... but I don't think its too common. I just don't think its gonna be like working with 13 ply Baltic.

Yeah I pulled those pics off Google images trying to find a similar grain pattern to that baffle.

Bass did you see the listing? Thoughts?

According to this article, Luan plywood may not be around much longer:
