JCM900 100w Hi-gain dual reverb

Post by M Fowler »

Mods forgot we have a Marshall section so this could be moved there.

Anyone have experience with this amp model?

Reflowed the solder on the first pot (gain) and the amp is working good now.

I didn't try it with 412 only bench cab. The guy traded a Fender Prodigy guitar for it and brought it over for repair.

You are a better man than me. Almost as tough as a Blues DeVille Hotrod Deluxe Super YumYum or whatever. Break it while fixing!

Miles I hear you but this is better built and easier to repair then a HRD I know that from experience.

Yeah, it's not got the 100 ribbon cables and you get more room to move..

NIGHTMARE

I alwys look for basket cases to redo but I never find them for less than people ask for working amps. Look at all the holes for controls!

IMO this amp sounds best biased cold... Try it, see how it works for you. Around 25mv to 29mv

It's easy compared to the JCM2000

Sure that should be the JCM900 model 4100 dual reverb 100watt amp. Most shipped with 5881 tubes into the USA. Used heavily in the 90's by most Marshall using bands. The last model before production became majority outsourced.

Thanks Cameron I'll check out the bias and see where it is at now.

Mark (selloutrr) yes the model 4100 using 5881's which is what the new owner said he wants to keep using. Pin's 1-8 are tied so he can run EL34's too.

One of my renters has one of those. He said it wasn't working.I didn't say anything about working on amps cause I figured it was built like an HRD or worse.

That doesn't look that bad

A friend of mine had the 50 watt version and did not care for the sound.

He asked me to do a budget minded conversion to a Plexi 50w and didn't even want to spring for new pots.
