Hello Amp Garage people, this is my first post so perhaps I should introduce myself. I live in the UK and have been tinkering with DIY effects pedals for several years (actually about 30 years on and off now I come to think about it) but took the plunge last year and built a Ceriatone OTS from the kit and now have ventured further and built what I believe is known as the Asteroid 60 (based on a certain well known amp of similar name!)
I have lurked here for a few months whilst building that, absorbing as many words of wisdom as I could and have now finished the build and what a superb amp it has turned out to be (due to the design rather than build quality I'm sure!)
Anyway, I have a problem that has stumped me a bit: if I put any kind of modulation effect, especially a wah pedal, in front of the amp I get immense 'microphonic' effect (e.g. can tap the patch cable coming out of the wah and it gets picked up and amplified). There is a certain amount of hiss present at the amp even with nothing plugged into the front end but when I activate my wah the hiss starts to modulate (when rocking the treadle) before I've even played any notes. The wah effect on any notes played is fine and the wah (and other modulation effects such as Love Pedal Pickle Vibe) all work fine in front of my OTS. If this problem was subtle then I wouldn't worry but the difference between playing the amp with only reverb in front (works fine) and then with Pickle Vibe and or Wah (and Cry Baby Classic) is so marked that I thought maybe there could be a known issue. I obtained the layout from a kind member here and the build is faithful to it (and checked over multiple times). The fact that it works fine in itself makes me think there could be a mod that people here might know about that I could try? Anyway, I have looked on other threads for this but could find nothing - hence this post. Any help gratefully received.
