As a new member, I feel the forums should be catagorized,
instead of the most recently used forum at the top of the page.

Maybe: Trainwreck, Dumble, Fender, Marshall, all of the amps.
Then under each amp, headings for parts, repairs, discussion,
different amp models, etc.

Other forums do a better job of displaying or catagorizing subject matter.
Just my opinion.

Maybe I am neat freak but I think they are messy inside. If a clean layout is something that is realistic.

Well. They moved my Fender threads (per my request)
from the Technical Discussion Forum to the NEW Fender Forum.

Very happy!!!

My goal with this forum is to better understand Trainwreck & Dumble amps . . . .
maybe build a clone amp head or combo amp, someday when I learn something

But, having lots of Fender (and Marshall) amp owners as members of this forum,
allows us to develop more of a "one-stop-place" with members of common interest.
Happy they added the Fender and Marshall forums.

Really, . . . . .
how many people do OWN a Dumble or Trainwreck or Rolls Royce or Bentley? - hahaha

Adding more variety of amps is great. Thank you, Administrators

I'm 1 month away from age 57 and I have never own a Marshall amp in my life but my clones are my favorite amps

I've only played through one Marshall in my life at Guitar Center in 2007 new model so not much to compare with in my opinion.

Growing up in the farming country of North Dakota we had Standell's, Gibson, Silvertone, and loads of Fenders around. My first tube amp was my Zenith chassis amp from a console record player that I added a 1/4 jack to.

I like the new sections.

I wonder about is how he gets away with a 25V bypass cap for the cathodes of the power tubes. If there are 2 6L6s its going to be closer to 40V
I agree that a 25V cap seems ill considered; the Fender layout shows 27V across it http://www.webphix.com/schematic%20heav ... _schem.pdf
and that's under static conditions (at 1950s line voltage).
The cathode voltage will rise significantly with signal, I guess over 40V when cranked.
It seems strange that the bias caps of some Tweed and BF amps were underspecified regards their voltage rating, especially as the consequences of a potential failure mode (failing insulation) are so bad (overheating iron).
My feeling is that doubling the voltage rating would be a beneficial precaution.

I did change the bias cap out to 25uf/50v last Monday on my cage amp.

Not many of us can afford the real deal so we make our own.

That is what this forum is all about.

Wound you agree that for MANY of us forumites,
that Dumble and Trainwreck amps are dreams at the end of the tunnel,
that Dumble and Trainwreck "clone kits" are the growing space,
and that Fender and Marshall amps keep us grounded everyday???

I don't believe there are many kits for Dumble or Trainwreck other than Ceriatone.

The purpose of this forum is to discuss and share information about these amps.

Structo ~ I have been saving url notes of sources when I'm ready.
Actually Weber, Frugal, Ceriatone, Gabkits, Fargan, etc
has both Trainwreck & Dumble kits or clones amps.

I could be wrong, but following are some notes
I quickly grabbed for this thread. There must be others, as well.

Dumble = Halle http://taweber.powweb.com/store/kits_weber.htm#Halle
Trainwreck = Natalie http://taweber.powweb.com/store/kits_weber.htm#Natalie

Check out the Weber Kits
Halle Heather Java for Dumble or Trainwreck clones

Hope this helps.

I wouldn't call any of the Weber kits 'clones.' They're loosely inspired perhaps, but the circuitry is different. And most of us that have built clones of Trainwrecks have realized that components and even layout have an affect on the result.

A Dumble or Trainwreck is more than the sum of the parts or the schematic.

Ceriatone probably provides the only kits that are close. If paint-by-the-numbers was all it took to make something like a Dumble, or a Trainwreck, or a Starry Night, then we'd all be HAD, or Fischer, or Van Gogh. And their works wouldn't sell for so much.

Thanks, LeftyStrat. This is very good to know.
I added your comments to my notes.

I am gathering that you or others have done
comparisons on the "kits", as I do wish to build a kit.

Is there an Amp Garage thread that compares Ceriatone with others?
But, your advice is great. Thanks again.
