rocket in a express cab

hi folks,

i am a newbie, also i do not have knowledges about electronics, but i know that i would like the own an original trainwreck, although this thought is useless.

i would like to buy a rocket but i love the trainwreck wooden cab. is it possible to take the rocket out of her cab and install it in a wood cab like a trainwreck?

is the rocket chassis bigger than the express? i would like to get the same proportions of the wooden cab like an original express.

The only difference you will find is a TW chassis is 17" across and the Komet is 19".
So if you really want it to look the same all that needs to be done is make a Trainwreck style cabinet
two inches longer than normal and the Komet will then look like a Trainwreck..

It is not hard to do if you have the wood and know how to use it..

No, you can't shorten the chassis.
All you can do is have the cabinet fit the chassis as close as possible.
There is only about 1/8" clearance on both sides of the Trainwreck cabinet/amp.
You could build a cabinet with the same clearance as a Trainwreck but then you need to have the completely open front area where the faceplate goes.
This may be a bit confusing but the only way you can make a Komet look like a Trainwreck is to built it the same as a Trainwreck cabinet..
only it will be 2" wider than the Trainwreck..
I doubt most people would be able to tell the difference at first glance.

You should be able to find similar knobs for the Komet.
I would however be very careful about placing a Komet logo on a cabinet without the approval of the Komet guys. Mike and Holger are good guys but without their approval you might be sticking your neck out.. especially if they knew of your cabinet with their logo...

you are right with the logo.
i will contact them and ask if they can make me a custom komet with the trainwreck cab.
if not , then i might make it myself but leave the logos away.
i do not plan to sell or offer the komet with that cab.
it would be just for me, but still you are right with the logo.
