Led Zep and Buddy Guy Honored at Kennedy Center

Post by John_P_WI »

This was a hell of a lot more fun to watch than anything else this New Year's eve - once you get past Jack Black.

I can't. I can't get past Jack Black. He acts like people I know. I want to beat them up and yeah it's really a hate crime.

I thought it was only politicians, ugly buildings, and whores that get respectable if they last long enough...

I was really impressed with Heart's version of Stairway.

You could tell the boys really liked it and the the tribute to Bonzo was heart felt.
It could have been longer but that's show biz.

Don't let that smoke out!

Exactly, +100. It was nice to hear Ann Wilson open it up towards the end, until that point I thought she was a little reserved.

Ok, guys I'm going to take up for Jack Black.
Yeah, yeah ... I know he's over the top and can be annoying.
But he's done his part in bringing rock music to the movies (School of Rock, Pick of Destiny).

The people at Kennedy Center are well known for doing their research.
While he has a skewed view of the way music should be presented (Tenacious D) there must have been a reason he was chosen for the awards.

The way I see it he can't be all bad if he put RJ Dio in his movie playing himself.

I watched the awards show and enjoyed it as much as everyone except Letterman 8)

-1 on Jack Black. I just don't like that guy. He's really just a 3 stooges wannbe in my book. I loved the Stooges, but I don't feel the need for a repeat...I have the originals on DVD.

Stairway is such an overdone song, but I LOVED that version! WELL DONE!!!

Kid Rock's set = yuck!

Thanks for the link, I missed the TV airing.

Agreed!

Who ever thought of Kid Rock? People listen to that guy?
It seems like such a random choice out of left field. I feel like it's like asking Chumbawamba.

Yay! And the horse they rode in on!

I hope it wasn't Jason Beaver. I like him.
