Bruno schematic
Hi everyone. I just discovered this forum and this is my first post. I hope to add constructively to the group discussions.
My first issue:
I have a Bruno UG30, brown tolex with 3-knob reverb in the back, and am having a real heck of a time with the reverb not working. At first the reverb function was intermittent, then it went completely out. Now, after some tinkering to isolate the problem, I seem to be gettting just the faintest hint of reverb.
I could give you all the gory details of my frustrating experience with this amp, but the bottom line is that it would probably be really, really helpful if someone out there had a schematic I could get my hands on. Also, anyone who has had experience with these amps I would love to hear from if you have suggestions. Last, I live in the Detroit area, and don't know anyone locally who I would let attempt to repair this amp. Sending back to Tony is probably not an option. He's already had a crack at it.
Help?

Re: Bruno schematic
Bruno couldn't fix his own amp?
Post some detailed pics of the reverb section of the board and wires going to and the tube socket.

Re: Bruno schematic
I don't think it would be right to say that Tony couldn't fix his own amp. However, the problem was intermittent when sent to him and was returned to me in the same condition. To be fair, the reverb was not the only issue he was supposed to address, and everything else was done satisfactorily, if maybe overpriced for the service. In time, I'll tell more of this sordid tale, but for now I would like to get the amp fixed. I really had a hard time dealing with the Bruno reps.
I'll work on getting some good digital pics taken and uploaded as you suggested, but it may take me a few days so please check back. I appreciate any helpl you can offer and thanks for the reply.

Re: Bruno schematic
99.9% of the time it is inside the reverb tank, loose push connectors or broken wire on the transformerkgreene wrote:Hi everyone. I just discovered this forum and this is my first post. I hope to add constructively to the group discussions.

Re: Bruno schematic
Thanks for the response, but I've already eliminated the tank and the cables by substitution. I think the problem lies inside the chassis.

Re: Bruno schematic
hello there, you should take your amp to germ since you're neighbors. he's built lots of stuff (much more complicated than your bruno ac-30 style amp) and could probably fix your reverb easily. i'm sure tony just spliced in the standard fender reverb circuit like he uses in his blackface clones. the tone control is from the dave funk book, and the dwell is just the input load resistor made into a pot instead of set. reverb circuits are pretty simple and barring some strangeness (like bad connections on the filaments or a screwed up socket somewhere) it should be easy to fix. rhkgreene wrote:I'm in the Farmington Hills area. Heck we're practically neighbors.
Re: Bruno schematic
KG, which Bruno reps were you having trouble with?

[KG, which Bruno reps were you having trouble with?]
Some guy named "ken" gave me a real hard time just for inquiring about service. Then he asked me flat out, in a very condescending tone, "Why should Tony be interested in helping somebody who isn't even buying a NEW amp?" As if having purchased a USED or PREVIOUSLY OWNED Bruno UG30 was somehow a bad thing for me to do, and that they were not interested in supporting their own product.
I promptly wrote a letter to Mr. Bruno, who responded quickly and graciously, offering to service my amp. I did send it to him for service, but as you can see, not all is resolved.[/quote]

"Ken" was probably from Ken at Ultrasound. He is rumored to do work for Tony also. Great way to destroy their name. I never understand why someone would charge that much for an amp without standing behind it?

Funny thing is that I heard someone at Ultrasound I think maybe Ken is related to Bruno like his sister is Bruno's wife or something like that"Ken" was probably from Ken at Ultrasound. Re: Bruno schematic
I was at an Ampfest in New Jersey last winter , and I had the chance to play through one of Germ's beautiful (inside and out) 'Wreck style amps...He had some SLO based amps as well. The amp that I played through was great, and Germ was real cool ,helpful and informative...I bet that he will do a fine job getting your UG30 working the way it should.
I'm sure others here will say the same thing as well.
