I'm a newbie to DIY electronics, but have seen this and i've just got to have a go and make one for my 40 watt blues deluxe, which could do with a bit of taming! a friend has an ultimate attenuator which is great but way out of my price range. :)

I havent' posted it yet, but my latest BOM revision for each TW model also has a sheet with the Airbrake versions on it as well....

I will do that soon.... I know that it doesn't help right now....

Rawnster,

I thank you for posting that as many people have sent me a PM about this AB and ask so this will surely help the new people. Besides I didn't have the BOM.

Why would you want to leave out the Rheostat?

I'm looking at the schematic and the layout and wondering if I've missed something.

On the resistor with only one tap lug does it matter where the lug is set? Just somewhere near the middle?

Yes that looks about right I think he marked it as a 13 ohm tap so half way.

As far as hooking to the resistor they are very similar to ones I used when slot car racing. What we did was find the right spot and solder directly to the resistor wire.
Don't need to find extra straps just connect directly. Never had a problem and you can change it anytime.

HTH...

Hi,

Thanks for all of the great info here. I plan on building this thing. However, I'd like a smaller version similar to the Brake Lite. Can I build this exact layout but use two 50w 250 ohm resistors?

Perhaps just two of these in place of the 100w resistors:

Can someone please help me out with my airbrake (without rheostat and without 8ohm 25 watt resistor) ?
I have sound but no difference in volume when I turn the rotary switch..

The numbers on the Lorlin rotary switch are the other way around than on the layout that is floating around on this forum. I followed the numbering that is on the layout, but should it be the other way around?

i think I found the problem. I used a 3 pole rotary switch instead of 2 pole...
