Very sweet! I'll bet it sounds great.
Re: Wreck/Rocket
Hi Mark,
a very interesting layout! Especialy the grounded triode. I have to try it in my Express built to tame down the remaining noise. I´m shure it helps, although I had luck with my wireing layout - its not soo noisy.
The PI is interesting too. Very economical and one resistor to much for my knowledge of the Rocket schem (between the two coupling C - a 220k if I´m right). I think these are the special ingredients of DR.Z and therefor tabu

Mark,
Looks awesome!
Did you tame down the first stage with a 100K instead of a 220K on V1 of the rocket? For a little less gain there?
Or maybe on the V2 stage where the Z-Wreck has a 220K?
Or maybe both??
Thanks....

Re: Wreck/Rocket
No I went with the 220k. I noted the 220k on second stage to maybe reduce to 100k but I'm sure I went with 220k.Did you tame down the first stage with a 100K instead of a 220K on V1 of the rocket? For a little less gain there?

Joe,
Thanks for the comment.
I generally keep the switch on the high voltage side. But it's worth adding the switch since a lot of the PT's available have multiple HT taps we might as well wire for use. I tend to like my EL84's cooking so go with the higher HT which is 280v.
I've use the Express PT on some builds with voltage of 300-0-300 with four EL84's with no problems using matched set of JJ's. You will need to watch the preamp voltages and adjust the dropping string.
I try to find PT's at 290-0-290 but unless it's a Vox replacement or custom most are 280v or 300v.

Re: Wreck/Rocket
I told Doc I would not promote cloning of his Zwreck on TAG.
Enjoy your build Joe
