Dave Funk book
Anyone have the Dave Funk book? Any cool stuff in there? It's kinda pricey new, so if anyone wants to sell me a copy...

Re: Dave Funk book
If you are into Fenders, I would highly recommend it. Lots of history as well as technical information and an excellant breakdown of the various Fenders by model numbers. Also, he covers a lot of things that I have read before, but they way he presents it, helped me connect a few more dots.
I believe mine was only about $25, so it is not a huge investment.

Most people who have a copy don't want to sell it.
The first book I read that explained how a vacuum tube works in an tube amplifier which I understood. My copy is in storage out of state (long story), I can't wait to get to it.
Proper Placement of fuses on the main line, Bomb proofing a rectifier tube, all sorts of insights.
It was a shame he didn't continue the series with Vox, etc. a good collection of Fender information from the beginnings through Tweed.
Best regards,
Steve

Out of print from Dave. Check JK Lutherie and Vibroworld to see they have stock. Amazon is out.xtian wrote:Where? I can't find by casual Googling...Gaz wrote:Thanks guys, I think I'm gonna spring for a copy.
Re: Dave Funk book
Damn, I can't find this book anywhere. I'll pay for a photocopied version (don't need the Fender schems of course). Copyright-schmopyright - this thing does not exist! PM if you're interested. Thanks.
Re: Dave Funk book
Nevermind all, I found it at Musictoyz - $39.00 and free shipping . God, I hope they actually have it, and I did not just order a non-stocked item. I will let you all know in case anyone else want a copy.
Re: Dave Funk book
Can anyone post a representative page or two, you know, as part of a free-speech, editorial, first amendment protected review?

Musictoyz was a bust. They never charged my card and have not responded to a follow up email I sent a week ago. My guess is they don't have it in stock.

Re: Dave Funk book
JK Lutherie had one until this thread started, but it dissapeared shortly thereafter. So, who's going to 'fess up to snaggin' it out from under Gaz? I think another similar book is "How to Hot Rod Your Fender Amp" by J Falla. Check the reviews on Amazon, all 5/5.
Re: Dave Funk book
Haha, thakns for sticking up for me, Martin. My Xmas is ruined! I do still want that book, but I think it may have been a blessing in disguise because I got the new version of Merlin's preamp book, which sounds like it's got a ton of different stuff in it - new chapters and less math/more practical stuff according to the author.
