Is this is a true vibrato in that it causes actual pitch shift?

I wonder what the guy that builds the Tonemaster™ Troubador 214 Evil Robot amps uses for varistors?

You know the one that Phil X plays?
He is one of the ones that horded them up and he uses the real deal to my knowledge.

That HVR is in UK and Germany, I think its just a matter of sourcing a few to try.

I found the patent as well tis the same as the amp schematics

their still made whats the spec on the old ones...

been digging for SiC
The Varisters in the old Maggies were copper varisters and no one that I know of makes the copper ones any more. In the 60s they were plentiful becaused they were used in TVs but when the TVs went solid state there was no need for them any more and the manufactureers quit makning them.
Hmmmm, I can see a lot of guys searching for old tube TV's. :D

doing some digging on copper oxide varistors. they came out of the developments in the telephone, and replaced tube diodes in early demodulator, and were replaced by more linear silicon devices

I am interested in making a stereo octal Reverb Rocket with this circuit in it.

If you notice the varistors for sale I would appreciate a heads up! We have a Mag 250 and a little one called I think a 410 or 417? Great amps. They travel poorly. :)

I am thinking a 2x12 50w Rocket would be really good.

not sure if this data has been reviewed before or not regarding copper oxide varistor Magnatone type.

I bought a pair of those NOS varistors maybe a year ago for $70. I never got around to building a Magnatone clone, but it's on the list. In a few years, those varistors might cost more than a 59 Les Paul....q;}

I'm still waiting for the quote back on those new production varistors. I was told "some time after the holidays", so I guess that's right :lol:

In the EU, 'Holi' prefix means one-third, in France it is one-half.

Ebay has an Estey Pac Amp which is a Troubadour same as the 413 Tonemaster model. Very clear pictures.
