for your amusement and listening pleasure - Mars Hill '93

I finally had the cassette tape of my band put on CD.The recording was done at The Terminal in Jackson, MS. in 1993. http://www.terminalrecordingstudios.com/
It has an old Trident board and was recorded onto tape with lots of magic soup sound processing. The engineer was Randy Everett and the KILLER studio drummer was George Lawrence. At the time I wasn't aware that he was so well known. http://notsomoderndrummer.com/our-staff ... rence.html
I used a Guild Nightbird with a Bigsby, gray panel VOX, Rat, King Wah. On "Rain" I used a JCM800 on the intro. That was the first time I ever played a Marshall. " Mars Hill" (with a different drummer) was live in the studio. The first side is more "pop" with 60's isms. We played live on occasions but were pretty much an ODD DUCK. I could use some props guys. I'm 59,loosing my hair, and have a bad back.I'd love to hear some of your original tunes. Thanks for listening. Andrew

That's me playing my Strat thru a solid state Peavey and a Roland JC-120, kid you not. Before I ever owned a tube amp *deep shame and regret*.

Great stuff, guys. And it was nice seeing that huge Peavey Bass cabinet!

I wish I had some recordings of me "back in the day", but alas, this, from a few years ago will have to suffice. Pardon my "pitchy vocal" (sorrrrrry Simon)... Guitar was one of the first Strats off the Japanese production line - neck rolled over by a truck while in a soft gig bag, Carvin replacement neck. EMG active pups, and straight into my home made 5E3.

Neat! That song is loaded with changes and surprises. Man you look about 18! Your finger stretch covers half the fretboard. Thanks Sydney.
More tapes guys.

This reminds me of a friend I lost recently. Not to be sad though. It reminds me of his style and how happy a guy he was. Always a big smile.

Thanks for sharing!

OK - Many years ago, on a planet far away, I was on stage trying to play guitar.
I hyperventilated so bad that I walked off without leaving the guitar or disconnecting...
I supplemented my income by roadying after that.
When you've been at a show early, have you ever seen that paranoid roadie
finishing up on stage - that's me.
Stage fright is no joke.
Thankfully there are no recordings of this.
Hopefully.

Don't feel alone Bob. Even Andy Partridge of XTC had to give up live shows for the same thing. I had a friend who was an incredible guitarist that also suffered from this.

Jazz, I enjoyed that a lot. I know that arranging and coordinating all those guys was work- paid off though!. Love those big horns and slick guitar style too. Funny. I left my guitar case behind a car and it was run over. It cracked the neck and twisted the fretboard off part of the neck but hard to believe it was repaired by a real luthier in Baton Rouge.Looked like new.

That made me reminiscent of when music was music.
Not "play clean - we'll handle the sound"
With a gazillion tweeks on the effects & tone.
I'm such an innocent.

Don't harm the song, 1st rule.

I think I have 11 songs here on the pod. One more?
