"The Making of ..." Documentaries

In my younger years I dreamed of being an engineer or producer. Didn't ever pan out for me, however, I still find the subject interesting.

I have three DVD's that I've watched more than once, I enjoy them so much.

"The Making of Dark Side of the Moon"

"The Making of Electric Ladyland"

"The Making of Sgt Pepper"

The Beatles one with George Martin soloing individual tracks is pretty awesome, and at one point he sits down and plays the into to Lucy. You could tell he was really a part of the entire process. To me he was always the person I consider "the fifth Beatle."

Anyone have any suggestions of similar documentaries?

The Beatles one with George Martin soloing individual tracks is pretty awesome, and at one point he sits down and plays the into to Lucy. You could tell he was really a part of the entire process. To me he was always the person I consider "the fifth Beatle."

That is a good one but usually when I think of the person most often referred to as the fifth Beatle I think of Billy Preston.
He didn't get much credit and even on the famous "Rooftop Concert" on the rooftop of Apple Records they don't show much of him at all.

But George Martin was certainly an important ingredient to the success of the Beatles as well as adding orchestration to the Fab Four's pop hits.
Along with the brilliant managing by Brian Epstein.

Another video I enjoyed a lot was "Fuzz-The Sound that Revolutionized the World" 2007.
Very well done and fun to watch.

Just found this. For those that have Netflix, they have the entire series of "Classic Albums" on instant streaming.

In the same vein, if you have a little time for reading, George Martin and Geoff Emmerick both have very good autobiographys. Geoff Emmerick goes into a lot of good technical detail into the making of some Beatles classics, including Sargent Pepper as well as the Wings sessions in Nigeria.

When I first heard the term "Fifth Beatle" I'm pretty sure it was being used to refer to Billy Preston.
This would have been around the time Get Back (with Preston) was released.
It was a few years later that I heard it being used to refer to George Martin, and considering his enormous influence on the groups recordings seems totally acceptable.

Wikipedia makes a case for a number of others as the "Fifth Beatle".

In my mind I think I'll stick with George Martin, if for no other reason than that he has appeared in a number of dreams of mine where he was represented as the Fifth Beatle.
