Looking for info on JW 5755 420A vacuum tube

Post by vibratoking »

I picked up batch of about 300 tubes for next to nothing. I have about 10 of these JW 5755 420A tubes. They have the Western Electric label on them. I saw a thread here that mentioned they are close to a 5751. I have a Sencore tube tester and I can't find any data on how to test these. Any info on pinout, cross-reference, etc...that I could use for testing?

I have two 5755 Raytheon tubes, data sheet here. http://tubedata.itchurch.org/sheets/138/5/5755.pdf These are NOS black plate and look so nice I can't bring myself to use them in a build. As best I can make out, the 5755 is the same as 5751 but the pin-out is different. Aside from the pin-out making this an outlyer and therefore useless in any mass marketed amp, I think you got a great score.

Wow, that's an oddball. My Hickok says test at 12.6VFiliament; 0 bias volts; .5 signal (the 6000 range on the 539c), and look for 975 mhos as mininum. It doesn't look like a familiar tube.

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I'll have to make an adapter if I want to test these on my tester.

Also, I see asking prices for these over a very wide range. Like $4.50 in Ebay and $190 for a matche pair here: http://tctubes.com/western-electric-420 ... -pair.aspx

Anyone familiar with tctubes?
