I liked the sound and playing. It's more gain than I'd be comfortable with for myself, but it works well for your playing.

I liked your tone and playing. I preferred your intro tone a little more than the ending. Seemed the end got more gritty, but liked it in the context of the song none the less.

That was very nice .....brings back good memories.guitardude57 wrote:After a couple of years of using my Bassman 70 convert...
This is what it sounds like. 12 piece band, but you can still hear me.
Tell me what you think.
If you didn't tell me it was a cover, I'd have thought it was Fagen/Becker, as it sounded as good (or better) than some their live stuff I've seen on youtube lately.
And as for the tone, I like it, althought it seemed to get lost in the mix there in the middle of the song (might have just been the sound guy screwin up?)....but the beginning and end where you could be clearly heard was really nice tone & playing.

Re: New ODS 100W build with pictures...
Thanks guys.
Sometime I will do a more conventional recording where you can hear things more clearly.
I like having the gain trim set up on a pot. It is marked where the setting is more Dumble-like, but prefer somewhere more gainy.
In the tune, the other guitarist does the middle solo part, more from center to the right channel. And me playing the clean stuff during the verses and his solo.
He is playing through one of those vox amp model pedals with the expression and a volume pedal. He is a good player, with some nice amps... and mucks them up with that crap. At the end of the bridge, you can hear when he turns his crunch patch off, to a clean.
Suddenly the noise is gone...
Anyway, the balance of instruments is what it is. 3 vocals, 2 guitars, bass, drums, keys and 4 horns in there.
Time to build another amp. Maybe a 124... with the trim pot on the board

I have read your post from start to finish and heard your clip. A great read and the tone of your finished amp is wonderful. Thanks for sharing and enjoy!!!

The FET circuit in my #124 never worked well. It was from a Ceriatone kit, I did not build it myself.
Rather than getting it working, I just went ahead and made a new one.
This is the old FET board as I was removing it from the chassis:

The FET board on my HRM build worked perfectly so I decided to use those exact same values. The FET circuit board of #124 is just a little different from the one in HRM so I drew up a new pattern and ironed it onto a piece of copper clad board for etching.

The ironing method never works 100% for me but I use the transfer that I get as a guide and just draw the rest of it in with a Sharpie pen.

Looks like my local Radio Shack had etching solution! Quite a surprise. This is the board being etched. The extra water bath is for hot water to speed up the process.
