EL34s. Is it ok to use the 470R screen resistors already installed or do I have to drive 4 hours to get 1k's?
It's a bother. I forgot to order them.

Re: In progress/in situ
I'd mail you some but I just checked and I only got one.
Re: In progress/in situ
Can you use resistors in series to make what you need?

You are like a special needs child.
1: Spaghetti
2: Striped parts
Alright, what else do you need?
Don't make me waste my beer/trip efforts.
Damn, wait.
Just found out I have a furnace to fix up this weekend.
Sorry my friend.
Heat is pretty important to the other creatures that live around here.
Stop by and help, I'd be happy to hook you up.

Re: In progress/in situ
You can drop the screen supply at the B+ node. You can also change the output tube grid loads from 220k to 150k: you'll lose a little power but the screens will be happier. Makes the amp cleaner, too, which may not be what you want.

Re: In progress/in situ
I am doing my best to make this thing a dirty 'ol nasty thing. I think should expect lower B+ from using the stock PT anyhow. As I recall it shows around 390 vs the 450-500 I am used to. I am not experienced enough to know what to be paranoid about.

Put a few freshly used KT88s in bed 30 mins before you get in. TOASTY!
Re: In progress/in situ
depends on application. you usually need 1Ks in guitar amps. If you don't have an 1k try adding one 220R or 270R before the 470RsReeltarded wrote:EL34s. Is it ok to use the 470R screen resistors already installed or do I have to drive 4 hours to get 1k's?

Re: In progress/in situ
BTW, if it makes a difference (I think so) I am using the 10k + 8.2k dropping string from a 50/100w amp in the JTM-45 tube rec amp instead of a straight 10k.
I decided to live with the 470R screenies for a few days so I can go ahead. I removed the obnoxiously paranoid 500R add-ons. Huge and in the way.
About to wire in the board. The rest is done.
