A week
I lost my dad this week. The thing about tragedy is that it lowers the bar for what you consider to be an ok time.
Hmm..
No sympathy for me, please. I am just sayin'...

Re: A week
Surreality abounds.
I did get to hear the best things that nobody ever told, and sprung a few myself. Riding on the handlebars of his motorcycle at 80mph would have made my mother furious if I had told her 45 years ago. She laughed.

Sorry to hear the news Miles, hang in there friend. I am glad you have your humor to keep you strong. I still have my parents, they are in their mid late 80's, every time I see them the sun is closer to setting.
Take care, truly.

Re: A week
Please accept my condolences.
Both my parents have passed. I've been embroiled in estate administration, lawyers, the Infernal Revenue Service, three state bureaucracies, one state tax department, and internecine family politics for the past eight years. If I may be of service for advice and consultation on such matters, please PM. Happy to share what I've learned, if wanted.
Sorry for your loss. Hang in there.

Dad
I have to share this storey,My Dad lived in Canada and spent the last year of his life in the hospital. One thing my dad always like was his cold beer.He ends up in a wheelchair with no legs and still manages to get out in the afternoons outside. He then drives his scooter off the hospital property to a local boardwalk deal and gets people to buy him a beer and a hotdog. He did this several times I will never forget his attitude!!!

Re: A week
Like that. That was a good one Mike..
I was three, and we are standing at the national hills swimming pool that is 12' deep. No idea why we were there so late, but it's dusk, and right there in front of my grandmother my dad throws me like a rock into the deep end..
PLOP!
A couple seconds later I popped back up and started kicking my legs. I was spitting and sputtering. I was full of water. As I was grabbing the rail on the ladder my grandmother was screaming at him. She grabbed my arm to pull me out and I saw her face. She was a genius.
The next week she had me at the YMCA in swimming classes. She wasn't going to let that bastard kill me!
I learned to swim that night. I learned to fly that night. Way faster than evolving.

Re: A week
Yup. Mine went West 5 years ago last month. The surreal is driving around town the day after and nobody seems to notice Dad is gone. I've had to kind of step up as the head of family. That's the part where you make him proud or no. Just sayin' Hang in there Miles.
