Concert question.

Post by tribi9 »

Hello guys, just wondering if anybody could help me out. I got an 80's Fender Concert.

I got a loose wire that Im not sure where it should go. It is the green wire in the pic. it goes to a funky blue not sure if it is a cap or resistor that goes to a cap resistor junction that ends up on pin 3 on V4. I first I thought it was a ground but when I grounded the wire, I lost maybe 90% of the output on my amp.

I looked at the schematic but I couldn't figure it out. Cheers and thx.

I had added some dots to highlight the location, but I don't think they really showing up. Sorry the text on my first post is a little confusing. The loose green wire that I'm talking about you can see it near the input jack. That goes to a funky blue cap then to a cap/junction resistor that goes to pin 3 on V4. Hope that is a little easier to understand. :)

Is the funky blue an 0.1uF cap?

If so, I think it's the 0.1uF to ground just below the two diodes on the top left of the schematic. The green wire is something to do with the channel switching, and I think is the connection between the 0.1uF cap/diode and the top jack on the schematic ("Jack 2").

The other end of funky blue and the 1k5 / (25uF ??) cap junction is a ground.

It would be a damn sight easier if people put component ids on schematics!

Can't tell for sure, but hopefully you can trace it out (or not) from there.

Second input jack, top "inner" lug, looks like.

Thank you Martin. I love this place.

That would be a ground tho, right? When I grounded the wire, I lost a lot of volume. Sound dropped by around 80%.

:? :)

It's an isolated "break" switching contact in the jack, part of the channel switching circuits. I'd hook it up and see what happens, with a signal plugged into input 1 and then input 2. It is possible that someone disconnected it on purpose?

Input 2 is completely disconnected. What I'm going to do is wire it back the same way they pic shows. I don't have one of those jacks handy, so I'll have to do it tomorrow.

Thx guys.

Thx guys, I did have a jack handy. I wired it as per the picture and now both inputs are working fine. Time to button it up and play loud. :)

Once again you guys have saved me. :)
