Besides OD and PAB, what would you put on the footswitch?

Post by mlp-mx6 »

If you could have 3 footswitchable things, what would the 3rd be? (assume OD and PAB are the other 2)

Mid boost?
Rock/Jazz?
Deep? (I probably will not have a Deep switch on my current build)
Something else?

Whaddaya think?

A friend who's buying one of my amps asked that I connect the mid boost to a footswitch. I did it and it works great, I'm going to add this to my own amp soon.

+1, mine is .002/390pf so it is a very noticable boost. In my amp the PAB is subtle compared to the mid boost. 8)

Thanks gents.

I tried not to suggest an answer, but I was already leaning in the direction you all suggest! I'm very glad I can piggyback on your good experience with this function.

Now, if I could only fit 4 of them in there and switch the mid cap! (.01 & .047)

Michael

Here's an alternative I'd like to hear feedback on..

What about tying the the OD and the PAB together in a single function? I have an HRM implementation (with Dogear's pre-OD network) and it's generally been suggested that you can't really use the OD without PAB.

And I'm not sure how useful PAB is in clean since my Midboost works well there. So I was thinking two swtiches, MidBoost and OD/PAB.

Bad idea or good idea?

I did just that on my HRM. I Put a toggle switch on the footswitch that ties them together. So far I love it. I can still get PAB alone on the clean channel if I were to ever need it too (hint: use a diode with the switch) although it depends on your switching configuration. PM me if you want a schematic for this.
