Fender Princeton 65 DSP - Noise issues

Hi folks. I've just had a look at my mate's little Princeton practise combo and can't seem to see any obvious problems. It is very noisy, to the point where the static noise on the clean channel almost over-shadows the actual guitar. The only way I could describe the noise is to say it's like a detuned radio, static sound.

I disconnected the DSP board but the problem still persists. A couple of the pots were noisy but I sorted this with some contact cleaner.

Any ideas?

BTW, working on solid-state shit is totally not my thing. Nightmare!

Take a can of freeze spray and shoot a little bit on each component. This usually works well to find noisy parts. If you don't wanna spend the money on freeze spray, just can a can of computer "duster". Turn it upside down and you'll get only the propellant, which is the cold freon.

I honestly don't know how fender get away with selling this shit. I have given up and wont be in a hurry back to look inside a solid state amp again. Garbage!

They are just relying on their name now.You can't even get agood guitr from them unless you spend $2,500 at that point You can have one made by a real luthier.

This is the kind of stuff I like fixing though. Nobody else in town will touch this stuff and I can usually have things fixed and back together within an hour. With something like your problem I will start at the first stage and check the output for noise. If it's not there I keep moving down the line until I find it. If the noise is everywhere then it's usually something in the power supply. If you aren't good with a scope then this can be hard to do..

my problem is my amp is very distorted in every channel. If I plug into "pre out" and go into another amp, it doesn't distort thru the 2nd amp and all controls work as expected, so my problem is in the output stage, right? I'm not a technician, but I know which end of the soldering iron to hold onto. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.
