Clone as a bass amp

Re: Clone as a bass amp
I don't have this one built yet to hear it but I would guess you could go with the more traditional Fender tone stack using a 10K (or 25K) mid pot and typical Fender cap values and then add the .01/250K deep for the forth tone control. The tone part of the circuit in the second schematic is basically a BassMan 70 design. I'm going to build it with 100,200 and 350pf choices on a switch for the treble values because it will be used with 2-way cabinets and I'm not sure where to let the mids dip for this application (Acoustic Upright Bass w/ piezo pickup).

Heisthl: I plotted the values of the Baxandallish B-15 tone stack when I was trying to figure out what to do with the bass channel on my Bassman 100 (The normal channel is Skylinerized). I then went downstairs and plugged in my real B-15 and set the tone controls where I thought it sounded good, then set the controls on the tone stack calculator similarly, and, presto, I had a mid dip down low, Fender .047 style, or even slightly lower depending on where I set the treble control. I decided that in use, the stock Fender stack would sound about the same, so I didn't modify it. Since Ampeg designed these amps for upright bass, I'll guess your mid dip might need to be low too. I wonder if the much brighter two way cab will make a difference in how you deal with the low end.
I'll try that new 4-way stack this weekend. Thanks for the help!

Built it and watched it get used at a 4 hour club gig - sounded amazingly good for no tweaking. See pix at:
