First Amp Build, (But not complete beginner to electronics)
Hey this is my first post here...so, hello! I was fumbling around the web for some simple diy stereo tube amplifiers and came across this schematic
http://www.specimenproducts.com/wp-cont ... -photo.jpg
Its looks really simple, and I have the time and money to make it......also a good friend of mine has A LOT of experience with amps so he would be able to help me if I ran into trouble..
My major questions are
Is it as easy to make something like this/good for a beginner?
Any ideas if it would even sound good/be worth making in the first place?
OR should I just go with a kit of some sort?
Thanks in advance for all and any advise, Anthony

Uhhhhhhhhhhh, this is a guitar amplifier group. Are your thinking about it for guitar? IMO, it is all wrong for guitar.
No disrespect meant. Anyone who wants to build a tube amp, my hat is off to them. Without new interested people, the art and science of it will die off.
This is feeling as if you may have landed on the right planet, wrong continent. I suggest, if you have sights on a hi-fi amp, there are groups that cater to people who do that, where I suspect you'll easily get advice on your hi-fi built that is as good as the advice you'll get here on a guitar amp.

I would suggest DiyAudio.com Anthony. You'll find a great site more into stereo amplification with a bunch of great people .

Thanks for the feedback, sorry about posting here, wasn't sure if guys did the stereo amp stuff here too, just though I'd ask. Cheers AnthonyPhil_S wrote:Uhhhhhhhhhhh, this is a guitar amplifier group. Are your thinking about it for guitar? IMO, it is all wrong for guitar.

I think quite a few are into tube Hi Fi but that is not the focus here so you may do better at DIYAudio.

Re: First Amp Build, (But not complete beginner to electronics)
I've seen practice amps that except for the 2a3 were exactly that...
sub the 2a3 for 6V6 and you have a guitar amp, for hi fi your gonna want to over build your power supply
the more stability you have there the better the overall sound,
A pair of these with nicely efficient speakers can be very nice, I've built similar out of champ guts, you have many pre stage options that can be very simple
I liked a mu follower, even a srpp, all can use one tube, the 2a3 has a drive requirement, hence the pentode
yes the debug....
3 x hahahaha
