Attached is a drawing of the Strat switch. It is a DPDT on-on mini on the panel. In the normally closed position, the bypass cap is .68 and a resistor on the larger cap keeps it out of the circuit. You could season that to taste. On the other side of the switch, the .05 and .02 are in series which drops the capacitance down to about .015. There is a big leak resistor to keep it from popping. You could accomplish the same thing by putting a .01 and a .047 in parallel. The lower bypass and mid-cap values should serve buckers better.
Thanks for sharing Skip. I've seen a number of solutions to mid cap value switching but I was intrigued when you mention changing cathode cap at the same time, which is something I've thought about doing in order to get different pre-amp voicings. I see that some of Henry's RedPlate amps have a 'mode' switch, which gives 'Black, Brown and Tweed' voicings which I suspect are achieved in a similar way to your setup.
You've inspired me to heat up my soldering iron and start messin'.
I've seen posts to alter the slope resistor as well. I didn't follow up since they either used a big coupling cap coming off of V1a before the slope resistor or had B+ on the switch. I suppose you could put a 50k pot in series with a 100k resistor for custom tweakage. Push/pull for the Strat switch would do it all but I'd like something brawnier than an 1/8-watt alpha in that application (with a plastic knob too). sh
I started a 183-ish build back around last Thanksgiving, and finally got it done (for now, anyway). Couldn't get used to the low mids, so I changed the bass and mid caps to .02. Doesn't have the typical skyliner tone anymore, but I like the sound, it's a little tighter. Definitely not as pretty as most of the builds around here, but here's a pic of the goofy resistors. No idea if they make any difference in the tone, but hunting the stuff down (mostly on Ebay) is part of the fun!

Dunno about mojo, or tone, but I will say that they definitely add color (the visual kind) and expense.
You should post some info about that build and what values of NOS parts you used, it looks great!
Taylor, your new low-plate build looks awesome! Did you get your Mepcos from Mark Huffman? I used Mark's Mepcos for the 150K plates, and his old green Dales for the 220Ks. Thank you, David Root, for the source! I like that he emails a picture of the parts before he sends them out -- it's reassuring to see that they look as expected.
Also used some Beyschlags and a Piher, all from Ebay, and all off-shore -- Italy, Netherlands and Wales. Got the OT from the TGP emporium. It's (I think) a Chinese Dagnall C2668 from a '90s Marshall. Got it for $35, freeing up the rest of my OT budget for the goofy resistors! The rest of it is the usual stuff. Scraped the pots to within 5K of the layout. I will post a clip if I can do one that doesn't make me wince. So, probably not gonna happen...
