power supply filter board on top of power tranny

Post by pula58 »

I've been thinking of moving away from Fender-type power supply transformers that sit in an opening in the chassis. For a small-ish chassis the tranny takes-up a lot of room.

So, enter the stand-up type of power tranny. With one of those, it frees-up considerable room inside the chassis to put, say, a power-supply filter capacitor board.

Do you think the heater currents (that would be flowing, i nthis case just underneath the power supply filter capacitor board, are going to cause trouble in terms of 60Hz hum?

Good way to use of that real estate, if you ask me.

every other place that you can put the power supply filter board is pretty much the worst ever place.

It's the normal spot for the filter caps when using a stand up transformer. No problem.
