Hey, the Allen BS tone stack does not replicate the tapped pot eq characteristic. If you want that you can buy the one sold by Weber and Hoffman, or you can do this: https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.ph ... 334#193334

Anyone know if it's ok to use a IN5399G diode (1000v, 1.5A) in place of a IN4007 (1000v, 1A)?

To have a switch that goes from tube to SS rectifier, would I run the PT HV to both the plates of the GZ34 and the diodes - and then put the switch on the lead from pin 8 of the GZ34 and the ++ end of the rectifier chain?

I'm using a 3PDT switch, doing the "type" switching at the AC input to each rectifier type. The 3rd pole serves as a switchable lower voltage bias compensation network.

Good news, the amp lives!

2 quick things:
1. It's not quite as loud as I expected (maybe I'm TW spoiled). I'm using a GZ34 so maybe if I go to the SS rectifier I'll get a tad more volume?

2. The bass channel is very hissy with no guitar plugged in. I omitted the .002 capacitor going to pin 6 on V2 because I didn't want that channel to be too woofy.

It does have the tube rectification saturation thing going on as well. All my voltages are really close to spec though...

I'm told you can run the SS diodes in parallel with the GZ34 and the diodes will take precedence. Then use a switch to open the diode connection and it will use the GZ34.

the hiss is a normal problem with this bass channel, at least at extreme settings

Got it mounted in an old Pignose bass combo cabinet (had 2x10s, now 1x12). I'll get started on the head cabinet this week.

I did the switchable SS/tube rectifier and I think I like it best in tube mode. Used a .001 instead of .002 across the 100k going to pin 6 of V2, seemed be be a bit brighter that way.
