D'Lite Relay Question

Re: D'Lite Relay Question
Where's a good place to get a couple of 3/4" standoffs so that I can space those two relays apart. I hate to place a mouser order to get something like that. My local electrical supply house didn't have any but had the switch and caps.
Just a little hard plastic tubing with a thicker wall that the bolt would go through would work ... not sure what to get in a pinch. Any ideas?

Your local super massive bolt/screw/fastener store might be the place to go first... but if you want something online...doveman wrote:Where's a good place to get a couple of 3/4" standoffs so that I can space those two relays apart. Re: D'Lite Relay Question
Yeah ... I was hoping to avoid having to order something. Can believe I don't have a couple of standoffs in all this misc stuff I have ... but I don't.
I'll just order a few things from mouser and pick these up too. No real hurry on the mod. I did already pick up the switch and a few caps to try.
Thanks to all ... appreciate it.

Hmm... no Fastenal, Hi-Strength Bolt, Tacoma Screw, or any other fastener shops located near you? We even have True-Value hardware store locally that carries a very large selection of fasteners... self service even... perhaps even an RC car hobby store might just have what you need?doveman wrote:Yeah ... Re: D'Lite Relay Question
Of that list ... there is a Fastenal near here ... maybe I'll try them before ordering anything. There are also two hobby stores I can think of ... thanks.brentm wrote:Hmm... no Fastenal, Hi-Strength Bolt, Tacoma Screw, or any other fastener shops located near you? Ya, the hobby stores are a bit of a stretch. But might be worth checking out just to see what you can find that is useful. It might just be shrink tubing.... Fastenal should be able to hook you up. Better prices too...doveman wrote:Of that list ... there is a Fastenal near here ... maybe I'll try them before ordering anything. Hi Ken, I put it in with a fourth relay. Love it.

Re: D'Lite Relay Question
Any place like Home Depot or similar will carry spacers or standoffs.

I used nylon spacers due to their insulation properties.

Re: D'Lite Relay Question
Did not see them in the hardware section of either Lowes or Home Depot yesterday. Is that where you found them? Possibility that they were both out but I have to do some errands today ... may stop by again.Structo wrote:Any place like Home Depot or similar will carry spacers or standoffs.![]()

Re: D'Lite Relay Question
I get all my standoffs from my local True Value store.

Yeah, the True Value store is on the other side of town from me but they do have the best hardware section in town.

Re: D'Lite Relay Question
True Value did have the exact nylon spacers that I need. Still haven't found a 1-3/4"-2" bolt that will fit in the hole at any of the hardware stores. I know a #3 will fit. But all the stores go down to a #4 that's too short or a #6 that's long enough. So a couple of nuts and bolts and I'll be in business. Admittedly not looked really hard ... only True-Value, Home Depot and Lowes. So I should find something soon. But just playing wiht the switches manually ... it really helps the blackface cleans come out ... too bright for the OD ... so the mod is just what the doctor ordered.
One more question ... I did buy a couple of variations on the cap. It currently has a 270pf in it ... which seems right. But I also have a 150pf and 330pf I might try. My thinking is that the 330pf would only allow the highest frequencies through ... is that the case?

						Re: D'Lite Relay Question
Yes up to a point they will add brightness with a larger value.
I was looking at some photos of my amp and I think I may have a polystyrene 150pf in there at the moment.
Remember, it also depends where you set your volume pot.
Past half way the cap will have less and less effect.

Re: D'Lite Relay Question
I run the volume between 12:00 and 2:00 but the change is readily apparent with the 270pf ... and honestly just about right.Structo wrote:Yes up to a point they will add brightness with a larger value.
