proper soldering and desoldering on boards

Post by wsaraceni »

How do you guys get the best results soldering and desoldering parts.

Turrets:

do you wrap everything? do you put the component leads through the hole and wrap the wires around the turrets? how many wraps? do underboard leads go into the bottom of the turret?

same thing with eyelets. I seem to use way too much solder and the stuff globs on the bottom with eyelets. This is normally because i have to change parts and add solder to the hole to reflow it. i think it would be best to totally suck out the old solder when changing and put all new stuff in.

thanks

I always remove the old solder as much as possible before replacing a part on eyelets. It's usually an easy step. Just try not to overcook things.
