For my octal reverb rocket builds using two 6L6s I have been using MC Fender iron 720VCT and 4k2 Fender OT.
But one of my favorite octal reverb rocket was built in a 16x8x2 hammond chassis and runs stock TW Liverpool iron so 600VCT and 5k2 OT using 6550 tubes cathode bias. I use this amp and have foot switch boost.
The voltages on the first amp noted above obviously has higher voltages probably closer to tweed Bassman values. That amp is being used in Nashville by a gigging musician and he states he loves that amp. Worth a try I think for you to build one.

Re: 66 rockster
getting quite close to normalish voltages probaly thanks to using a diode recitifiers, getting about 420 loaded coming into the first filter cap,Zippy wrote:Are you following the implied recipe of keeping operating voltages in the low end of the band for pre- and power amp?jestaudio wrote:Join the club, got to say the layout is based on yours but with a few libertys taken with a full wave diode rec ,transformer spec and dropping string but looks good so far

						It Lives,
heres the nearly complete amp all cased up(just the back off at the mo, and it sounds great considering the cheapo speaker its through, plenty of balls and probaly becuase of the lower voltages from the trannie at breaks well when pushed at a sensible voulme

						after the blown OT
after having a blown output transformer mainly from using a cheapo chinese unit i salvaged with the chassis i changed the whole transformer set, I've ended up using a set of trannies i had earmarked for a dc30 build(original Matchless) , the power trafo is 290-0-290 which is giving me about 360 after the tube rec (sovtek 5y3gt) , 4000ct OT and a 5 h choke, the result is midly impressive to say the least, nice and clean untill pushed hard, takes pedals well and is whisper quiet with no hiss, to say i was suprised is to say the least as i got the impression that TW,s could be pretty hissy when pushed.
I'm now looking at speaker choice for the cab, i've been using a vintage RCF out of a Simm watts amp which is a bit ice picky with this amp( sounds great with a dumble tho
 ), all suggestions very welcome.
Has anyone got a voltage chart for me to compare mine to?

Re: 66 rockster
The Rocket isn't known for high gain hiss it is a very stable circuit that is why it is so pedal friendly. I would recommend changing the 220k plate V1 to 180k or 120K for more clean headroom.
That transformer set would be perfect for a Rocket. I like the Celestion Vintage 30's with a Rocket.
