Mounting pots

Hi all,
When mounting the pots to a chassis, do you guys cut the tabs off that keep the pots from turning? I noticed the D-lite chassis has no relief holes cut for the tabs to sit in. I'm in the process of building my own chassis and I'm thinking of cutting the tabs off all my pots. I think the ground buss that runs across the top of the pots should keep them from ever rotating over time.

Yep, that's exactly how I do it and I've never had rotating pot issues.

On that ground bus, use a piece of 3/64" brass rod, bend the ground lug on the pot up a bit and wrap a piece of solid wire around the rod and through the pot's lug and solder. It's solid and won't allow the pot to spin, but it's still easy to swap a pot if you need to. Soldano runs the rod right through the pot's lug but that makes it difficult to replace a pot.

Yep, just cut the tabs off. Locating holes are nice, but if you do that you'll probably need to use a faceplate so the holes aren't visible past the edge of the knob.

Yep. I do the same thing. Cut the tabs off and connect the buss wire to the pots. Keeps them in place.

Unless you have a really thick panel to contend with and assuming the use of the Alpha pots that come with washers, a good system is to cut the tab off, put on a flat washer, then a star washer, through the panel and another flat washer and the nut. You can get the star washers at any hardware store (like what Fender uses on their controls).
Now if someone just made the right sized beauty washer for those toggle switches.......

Boy, you are SO right! The pot/jack ones are available at Angela, but I'd LOVE to get the ones that Fender used on their switches in the Rivera era!

Also - the angled ones on the pilot lights!
